common questions

Are the names and details in My Dyslexic Husband real?

Some names and identifying details have been changed to protect the privacy of individuals. The emotional truths, experiences, and insights shared in this memoir are real.

Does your husband know you’re writing this?

Yes. He does. And he’s supportive of me sharing this story.

For now, we’ve chosen to keep some measure of privacy by publishing the book under a pen name. That choice allows us both space—to reflect, to process, and to continue working through what has been, and still is, a layered and evolving experience.

This isn’t a story told after the fact.

It’s one we’re still living inside.

We don’t know exactly what the future will hold—whether we’ll eventually “go public” with our names or remain more quietly in the background. But for now, this is the way that feels most respectful to both of us.

Is this story based on true events?

Yes. My Dyslexic Husband is rooted in lived experiences, reflecting both the challenges and the beauty of navigating a neurodiverse relationship.

What inspired you to write this memoir?

This memoir grew out of a personal journey — trying to make sense of love, learning, communication, and identity through the lens of a relationship shaped by neurodiversity. It became both a reflection and a way to find my own voice. Read more about why I wrote this book.

Do you offer workshops, coaching, or companion resources?

I’m in the process of building supportive tools and offerings for those navigating memoir writing, relationships, and personal storytelling. As a trained coach, I am also exploring ways to offer coaching opportunities in the future. You can learn more here about our Memoir Writing Course and our Resources — or subscribe to the newsletter for updates.

Is this medical advice or clinical guidance?

No. Nothing on this website, in the memoir, or in the companion tools is intended as medical or psychological advice. This work is based on personal experience, lived observations, and the emotional realities of navigating a neurodiverse relationship over many years.

While care has been taken to share these stories with thoughtfulness and integrity, the content has not yet been formally reviewed by a clinician. It is not a substitute for professional diagnosis, treatment, or therapy.

That said, it is part of our ongoing vision to have key resources reviewed by neurodiversity-informed clinicians and relationship professionals. If you’re a professional interested in contributing to this review process, please contact us.
